Reading the fine print so you don't have to trust the salesperson.
Answering-service and AI-receptionist proposals are written to be compared with nothing. Per-minute, per-call and flat-rate plans hide the real bill in different places; overage terms and after-hours surcharges hide it in others. A second opinion means someone who has read a lot of these puts yours against your actual call pattern and tells you what it will cost, what it will drop, and whether a cheaper intervention gets you most of the way.
- Quote review. You send the proposal; you get a written opinion on the pricing model, the terms that matter, and the questions to ask before signing.
- Setup check. You already have something answering the phone. I look at how calls are triaged, routed and followed up, and where a 2am emergency would fall through.
- "Do I need this?" The most common answer is a shorter conversation than either of the above, and often the answer is no.
Not an agency, not a reseller, not a vendor's partner.
I don't implement or resell any answering service or AI receptionist, and I don't hold affiliate or referral arrangements with any of them. If you decide to buy something after we talk, you buy it from them directly and I earn nothing from it. That's what makes the opinion worth having.
I'm also not a tradesperson, and I won't tell you how to run your shop. You bring the trade knowledge. I bring the systems knowledge. The advice sits where the two meet.
Three steps, no discovery call.
- Send the quote or describe the setup.Use the contact form. Say what trade you're in, roughly how many calls a week, and what you're being offered. Don't attach anything yet; I'll ask for what I need.
- I read it.I'll reply by email with whether it's something I can usefully help with, what it would cost, and how long it would take. If the honest answer is "you don't need me," you get that answer for free.
- You get a written opinion.Plain English, with the arithmetic shown, so you can hand it to a partner or a spouse and they'll understand the decision too.
